The Place to Be

People would tell me that they would spend their holidays in Tenerife and I had no idea why they would choose to go there. To me it looked like the Canaries islands were too far away to deserve a trip there for a small holiday trip. It also looked a little too close to warrant going there for a large trip, so I guess, to me, it kind of fell in between. Also, at the time, Ibiza and Majorca were all the rage with me and my friends, so everything kind of paled in comparison to that.

Fortunately, my travelling horizons expanded, even if just a little bit. I enjoyed some calm and really peaceful and relaxing holidays in the Greek islands and I thought that maybe it was time to give some other places a go. But I think the main tipping point was finding a really attractive package for cheap Canaries Holidays from On the Beach. It’s sad that money was the ultimate factor, but it’s true. I later realized that the holidays were really cheap for a few major reasons. First of all, it’s really cheap to fly into the Canary Islands because the airports are in really good shape and low cost airlines fly there all the time. Of course the presence of low cost flights brings all the other costs down, as people on a budget start visiting the islands. Another decisive factor is the fact that tourism is so big in those islands. It’s one of the busiest airports in Europe in the holiday season, and year round. There’s a huge peak during the month of February because they have the most amazing Carnaval in the island of Tenerife, one that rivals the huge and hugely famous Carnaval of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. But one of the most important reasons for the holiday being so cheap was the good people at that website, On the Beach. They were really helpful in advising me on the best ways to get good deals. And I didn’t have to run around looking for airline tickets there and hotel bookings somewhere else, they allow you to do it all in their website, which makes it easier to compare prices. And, mind you, I wasn’t exactly travelling alone. I had my whole family with me, and the holidays were still below budget and above average in terms of fun for the whole family.
